Sign up for Workshop 2 - Edinburgh

From 28th – 30th August 2023, the GlaMBIE community will meet in Edinburgh for the second GlaMBIE workshop. It will be hosted by Earthwave at CodeBase Edinburgh. The aim of the workshop is to focus on the main GlaMBIE study and discuss the submitted data sets in detail (with the participants and stakeholders), as well as the shared paper. The workshop is open to GlaMBIE participants, the Scientific Advisory Board, the Stakeholder Board and the wider glacier community. The meeting will be partly held in hybrid format, however it will rely heavily on the physical presence of participants – so in-person attendance is strongly encouraged.

The workshop is free to attend. Registration will close on July 31st, 2023.

About edinburgh & codebase

The workshop will be hosted by Earthwave at their Edinburgh office, which is part of CodeBase Edinburgh. CodeBase is the UK’s largest technology incubator, and the Edinburgh office is located in the very center of town, at the foot of Edinburgh castle.

Edinburgh Airport is the closest international airport to the workshop venue, and is approximately 40 minutes away by tram. Edinburgh Waverley or Edinburgh Haymarket train stations are also great options if travelling by train, as both are a 15 minute walk from CodeBase Edinburgh

The city centre location means that there should be a multitude of accommodation options availavle within a 10 minute walk of the workshop venue. However, participants should note that the Edinburgh International Festival takes place in the month of August (finishing on Monday 28th), meaning that accommodation should be booked as soon as possible & prices may be higher for the first two nights.

Hotel Recommendations:

    • Point A Edinburgh – from £179 per night, ~10 minute walk from workshop venue
    • Apex City of Edinburgh Hotel – from £269 per night, ~7 minute walk from workshop venue
    • DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh City Centre – from £353 per night, ~3 minute walk from workshop venue
