The Glacier Mass Balance Intercomparison Exercise (GlaMBIE) aims at:

                 (a) comparing regional glacier mass-balances estimates from different observational sources

                 (b) to combine these results into combined regional and global consensus estimate.

More details about the exercise and first results from a pilot study will be presented at the RAGMAC-GlaMBIE workshop on the 6-8th of February 2023.

For the main experiment, we are calling for your data contributions that are expected to fulfil the following requirements: 

+ Observational sources: results should be derived from the glaciological method, geodetic DEM differencing (from optical or radar sensors), altimetry (lidar or radar), or gravimetry.  The submission of results from combined sources (e.g., glaciological and DEM differencing) is possible too. 

+ Spatial coverage and resolution: results should be aggregated at regional scales, using the 19 primary glacier regions (GTN-G 2017). 

+ Temporal coverage: results should cover longest possible survey periods after about the year 2000, ideally without observation gaps. 

+ Temporal resolution: results should be provided at the highest temporal resolution (i.e., monthly, seasonal, annual, or multi-annual) as adequate for the corresponding observational source. 

+ Units: results are expected to be submitted in the original unit of the source, which are specific elevation changes in metre for most geodetic methods (e.g., DEM differencing, altimetry), specific mass change in metre water equivalent for the glaciological method, and mass changes in gigatonnes for gravimetry. 

+ Error bars: results are expected to come with observational uncertainty estimates to be reported at 95% confidence intervals.
